Amy’s Ice Creams, a local favorite and award winning ice cream family, has been serving homemade super premium ice cream and desserts for over 30 years. Our mission is to, “Make People’s Day” and that’s where you come in. We are hiring part time and full time delivery drivers to provide over-the-top customer service to our customers and wholesale clients. You’ll join a team of dedicated drivers who treat our product with respect, who find joy in day to day activities, and are always up for fun. This role is for someone who likes challenges, responsibility, and opportunity.

 

Responsibilities

Are we the right fit for you?

  • Deliver ice cream and other supplies to our 12 stores throughout Austin.

  • Represent Amy’s as a brand and a face for our Wholesale department.

  • Fulfill Wholesale client ice cream orders

  • Assist in invoicing stores and departments for tracking purposes

  • Clean and organize delivery area

  • Assist in inventory management

  • Attend weekly meetings to discuss systems, operations, and financial measures. (We practice Open-Book Management)

PERSONAL FINANCE                                            

The open-book system of Amy’s Ice Creams allows you to be a part of the team that builds the financial plan for the following year. You’ll learn to plan your own personal income statement, get monthly financial results including performance vs YOUR plan and most importantly, learn the tools to build a solid foundation for your entrepreneurial aspirations.

PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE                                            

You’ll add “expert in deliciousness” to your list of credentials! As a cream slinger you get to create combinations that will make anyone’s day using our lineup of flavors, from classic Just Vanilla to Cherry Berry Margarita. Amy’s offers over 350 unique flavors of ice cream but we don’t stop there. If you have an idea it just might be added to the list!

LEADERSHIP

JOB DUTIES/FUNCTIONS

  • Be prepared to answer employee questions while off-duty

  • Assist the manager in training and developing team

  • Hiring and interviewing, employee development and redirection

  • Determine and fulfill customers needs above and beyond expectations

  • Responsible for seeking out and implementing creative ways to maintain and improve store cleanliness and positive atmosphere

  • Understand and enforce health code requirements

  • Attend managers’ meetings

  • Provide immediate constructive feedback to employees

  • Utilize our redirection system on a regular basis

  • Attend and participate in monthly and weekly formal store meetings to discuss store operations and financials

  • Complete at least one redirection form or commendation per week and encourage other shift leaders to use it as well

  • Responsible for analyzing sales based on prior years sales

  • Able to react by increasing or decreasing labor

  • Check sales per hour vs labor per hour—use the $80.00 sales per hour per person rule

  • Monitor shifts and create a monthly marketing plan to boost sales

  • Track store sales daily, weekly, and for the period, setting goals for the staff

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift ice cream tubs weighing 30-40 lbs.

  • Repetitive use of wrists while scooping, crushing, and cutting

  • Repetitive use of wrists while using cash register

  • Long periods of standing (approximately 5-8 hours)

  • Bending, reaching, and squatting to clean and grab products

  • Pulling and pushing mop and other cleaning objects

  • Pulling and pushing large equipment to clean under

Marketing & Communications Intern - Office

Now is the time to combine your passions with guerilla marketing practitioners and gain real world experience executing innovative and unique marketing campaigns throughout Austin. Amy’s Ice Creams, homegrown in Austin, has 15 locations in Austin, Houston and San Antonio, a new bakery, Baked by Amy’s, and a new education program, Amy’s EDU.  Amy’s mission statement is to “Make People’s Day” and we achieve this mission through great service, high quality product and strong community engagement. Education is one of Amy’s most valuable principles and Amy’s has created a Marketing and Communications internship to infuse our passion with storytelling and unique marketing practices. 

Amy’s Ice Creams’ Marketing and Communications Intern will work directly with the Amy’s Marketing and Communications Director and team, completing marketing projects and tasks related to current company sales and community engagement goals. With nearly a dozen major projects, interns are able to build and execute  actual campaigns. Our internship program offers the opportunity to learn real world skills in guerrilla marketing, online/digital media marketing, storytelling through popular distribution channels, and Amy’s approach to business using open book management.

  • Extend Amy's Brand to nonprofits through donation programs

Requirements

 

  • Must be enrolled in junior year of college or higher
  • Completed Introduction to Marketing course or equivalent
  • Must work a minimum of 12-15 hours weekly.

  • Able to work up to 20 hours. Required to work at least 12-15 hours weekly.
  • This is an educational unpaid internship
